Location
Camping du Quinquis is a relatively small, family run and beautifully kept site, surrounded by green spaces and woodland in the Finistère department of Brittany in north-western France.
It has three lovely, heated swimming pools (and a Jacuzzi) with plenty of sun loungers around them for you to relax on and shades which you will need as the pool area is a real sun trap.
Next to the pool the bar area spills out onto a bar terrace where you can sit and sup a cocktail or two. There is also food served there and they host fun nights ranging from local bands and traditional dancing nights to bingo and talent contests.
As well as sit down meals the campsite also has a great takeaway service during the high season in July and August. You can also pick up basic supplies and place daily bakery orders at the campsite shop based in the Reception.
There are two separate children's play areas, a sports field where regular football tournaments are hosted, a boules court, tennis courts and several table tennis tables.
The campsite is less than a ten minute drive (or a pleasant half an hour walk through the woods) from several lovely sandy beaches. There are also gorgeous cliff top walks along the coast where you can dip down and explore secluded coves.
If you continue up the drive past the campsite you reach the Quinquis Animal Park which is a little hidden gem where Llamas and deer wander free along with a range of other animals. It also houses Parcabout, which is great climbing area for kids with nets suspended from the trees. The entry fee is reduced for Camping Quinquis campers.
Camping Du Quinquis is just a mile from the pretty village of Le Pouldu and its lovely beaches. The coastline is littered with great spots, from the rugged coast of Kerou Plage, the long surfing beaches of Guidel Plage, Lamour plage with its gorgeous seafront restaurants and beach volleyball.
The nearby River Laita is popular for kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing.
Take a trip to Pont Aven, popular with artists, where you can wander the picturesque streets grab a waterside lunch. Further afield the fortress town of Concarneau is definitely worth a visit as well as Carnac with its megalithic Stones. Lorient is the closest main commercial centre. It hosts as Inter Celtic Festival in August as well as offering up a range of other activities including ice skating, karting and submarine museum.
Throughout the week there are a variety of local markets. Guidel's market on a Sunday morning is a must see. It is only a10 minute drive from the campsite and during the Summer months there are performances of traditional dancing and singing in the market square.
I could go on. Camping du Quinquis and the local area has something for everyone.
