About the Area

Harlyn Sands is a family owned park, run for families, which means that single sex groups cannot be accommodated. Professional entertainers will keep the children occupied during the day and early evening, while the clubhouse is the venue for evening entertainment for the remainder of the family. There is a restaurant and separate take-away attached to the clubhouse, while behind Reception, there is a well-stocked shop that has daily deliveries of; papers, bread and award winning pasties. Close to the launderette and central shower block, there is an indoor swimming pool, which is a great facility with its flume and kiddies area. Club membership cards are provided free at Reception, although there is a small charge for the use of the pool, again, arranged through Reception.

The park is ideally located on the Trevose Headland close to Padstow, the home of several celebrity chefs and the seaward end of the Camel Trail. From the park there is a 300m track that leads directly to the nearest beach, while Mother Ivey's Bay is just a little further to the north. A 'half mile' walk across the adjacent golf course will take you to Constantine and Booby's Bays. For the more adventurous walkers, the Cornish Coast Path is readily accessible and Padstow is within easy walking distance, taking less than 2 hours if the cross-country path is taken from Trevone rather than the coastal route. A regular bus route will deliver you back to Harlyn Bay if the return walk is a little daunting.

There is a surf school at Harlyn and most of the beaches have RNLI lifeguards on duty throughout the summer months for those that wish to swim or surf. For cyclists, the Camel Trail is a cycle route that uses the old Atlantic Railway line connected to Bodmin via Wadebridge and bicycles can be hired at any of the towns on the trail.

Newquay is approximately 9 miles down the coast and there are numerous attractions within a 20 mile radius of the park, including; the Eden Project and Camel Creek Adventure Park.

For those that enjoy eating out, there are numerous restaurants in Padstow or Rock, on the other side of the River Camel. Good pub grub is available at the many local inns at; Trevone and St Merryn, with the nearby Cornish Arms being a Rick Stein pub.

The nearest convenience shopping, with adjacent ATM, approximately 3 miles away on the outskirts of Padstow.
